Introduction

This guide will help you get Australian digital TV working on your MythTV box. This guide assumes you already have a MythTV box up and running.

Parts

Most outdoor antennae should work fine but for the best quality reception (one which is least likely have transmission errors) you should use the following:

  • A good quality antenna which is designed for digital TV is recommended such as this.
  • Balun for antenna - link.
  • Quad Shield RG-6 75ohm Coax Cable with appropriate plugs - link
  • A Digital capture card, see the Hardware Guide
  • And a computer to run MythTV

Installation

Installation of the antenna and cabling should be done by someone who know what they are doing. Without the proper testing tools, it will be extremely difficult to allign the antenna properly. I would not recommend a indoor antenna as you will most likely get the occasional transmission error with these.

Simply connect the antenna to the antenna input point on the digital capture card. If you wish to use more than one capture cards you will need a splitter (such as this one, depending of the connection plugs used) for the antenna cable.

Conclusion

MythTV should now be ready to be configured. You can now follow the Configuring MythTV for Australian Digital TV guide to begin the configuration.
